My Dinner

I made quinoa with veggies for dinner tonight and it was pretty damn good. I ate at the high top table while watching youtube videos. Alex, the cat, climbed up onto the table was was just sitting watching me eat. Just staring at me (the usual). He hardly ever sits on the table so it was a bit strange but I enjoyed the company.
So Im just chillin' eating my dinner, I take a bite and then I notice a tickle in my nose. The tickle gets stronger so I try to swallow my bite before I have to sneeze. I couldn't get it all down but I think a hand over the mouth will suffice because its going to haaaaaapeeeeeen!!
I turn towards Alex (away from my precious computer) and sneeze! Out of my mouth comes an explosion of quinoa and half chewed veggies and my hand did not block much. It all comes raining down around Alex and sounds like a mix between a splat and a sandy rain noise.
Alex doesn't move. Just keeps staring at me.
I remove my hand which is covered in a quinoa slobber and I start laughing. I show Alex my nasty hand and tell him that I just sneezed. He looks down at my hand briefly and seems disgusted but also curious as if to say, 'dont you think Im gonna lick that, gross, but what the hell just happened?!'
So I go over to the sink to clean off my hand and thats when the whole ordeal replays on my mind (that sound of the food splattering on the table!) and I start laughing so hysterically that Im bent over the sink and cannot see for the tears in my eyes. My windows are open so the neighbors can probably hear me and I wonder if they think Im laughing or crying. That makes me laugh harder. I cannot breathe.
When I can stand again, though still giggling, I grab the rag and clean up my ABC food thats all over the kitchen table and chairs. Alex is STILL in the same spot watching me. I giggle to myself for awhile afterwords and just giggled again as I wrote this.

Highlight of my day? Sneezing my dinner around my cat.

Or crouching around a garbage bag, with a friend, that was overflowing with pastries next to a coffee shop dumpster taking nibbles out of the delicious food. That was also a pretty hilarious part of my day... Especially when someone walked by and didn't know what to say to us. I bet we looked pretty crazy. But hey, I got some delicious free food out of it!

The Cake Fairy

Today was a pretty standard weekend here in PA. I dont do much but hope that its nice out so I can go for a walk and explore on my own, but the sun didnt come shining through my window this morning to wake me up. I slept in. After a few hours of lounging around watching youtube videos about history, I asked Cassie if she wanted to explore the town. We decided to take a visit to a local winery/brewery, Stone & Key Cellars, to do some tastings. They had quite the spread of things to taste and we were overwhelmed! Fruit wines and your typical whites and reds, cider and mede! I started out with some of the red fruit wines and Cassie with the white fruits. They were all a bit sweet for me so I moved right into the bold reds. We got four tastings each and shared our tastes but also, the bartender was super cool and gave us more tastings of whatever he wanted! He was talking to us about the local area and what breweries to check out next in our exploration of Pennsylvania. Going to ...

Bio Bay, PR positives

The coolest part of our trip to Puerto Rico was definitely the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques [side note, bioluminescence is a big word, mostly it just means stuff that lights up but scientifically it means 'bio'-life, 'lumin'-light, 'escence'-to put forth. So, life that puts forth light!] It was an experience that I cannot easily put into words. The night started out a bit strange. We got picked up at our hostel at 9pm, along with 5 other girls, by a thirty-something, long-haired gentleman. He walked us about a block to the van that would transport us to the bio-bay. The van was, well, to put it nicely, a fixer-upper. It had bench seats which were collapsing, the roof fabric was falling down, it puttered around and squeaked during turns. Ty and I joked that we were paying 40 bucks to get murdered in this van especially when we turned down a dirt, side street that was full of pot holes. We slowly lumbered along this road for a few minutes until we made it to our ...

Eating Like Crap is Crap

Im trying really hard not to spend money on food as there is so much food here at camp. Its not horrible food but its definitely not the best. So, with me trying not to spend money on food, I haven't been eating the greatest. I don't know if its because of other reasons, but Ive been feeling like shit lately and Im attributing it to lack of nutrients. I dont know how people eat crap all the time and survive. It must be a skill. I was eating alright about two weeks ago but this last week it hasn't been very pretty. Ive been a scavenger and theres been a lot of bread and fake meat and here is how I feel: Im tired ALL the time. No matter how many naps I take or hours I sleep a night, Im always exhausted by mid-day and just want to lay around, sleep and do nothing. Ive also been starting to get weak headaches throughout the day. Or having sore muscles from doing minimal exercise. That also makes me just want to do nothing. My stomach is also crazy. It hurts if I eat som...
