Word Vomit

The last couple of weeks have been good and bad. Here are the ups and downs:

Work has been intense. Ive been working all night shifts, no time for developing my garden, planting more plants, mixing the compost or other office work. We have been busy. Its been good but also super exhausting. Im exhausted. It has given me hardly any time for myself. I want to exercise more but I'm too tired to get moving in the morning before my shift...

On Wisconsin!! Watching the final four was super fun! Im not a huge basketball fan but I love watching big games like that. Winning against Kentucky was super exciting and then the amazingly close game against Duke was great to watch. I was almost asleep at the bar last night but it was worth it. Shout out to the generator at Melt cause the power was out. Went out right as Ty and I finished cooking for Amber and Darren! (Burrito night!)

The cats are super adorable. They come hang out by me a lot and the baby girl kitty loves to cuddle with me. Im gonna miss those fur balls when I leave here.

Any Pretty Little Liars fans out there?? (Shout out to you Elizabeth!!) I just binge-watched the winter season and dangggggg, it ended crazy! I know its like to worst show ever, but its super addicting and gets my mind off of work for a bit. Cant wait for the summer season! We watching together again this summer, Elizabeth??

Falafel. Ty and I made falafel the other day and it was super delish. I was surprised at how good it was. Im going to do it again!! Ty also made hummus and tzatziki sauce. yum, yum! Mediterranean food is my favorite!! Ty and I have been cooking lots of delicious at home meals that are healthy! Makes me happy :)

Easter at work was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually kinda fun. We did crafts all day and spent some time cleaning the office afterwards. Not bad.

I am in love with my homemade face scrub. Every time I use it I want to eat it. Smells like cinnamon rolls... And it works pretty dang good too!

Yesterday I had some time to catch up on my cleaning around the house and then went for a swim for exercise at Vessup. Ive been scared to swim there because its a very dirty beach (people just throw their trash on the beach cause they dont know better... its weird and very sad) So I thought there would be a lot of weird stuff in the water, but I sucked it up and did  lap along the beach. It wasn't bad until I came face to face with a three foot long barracuda! Ive never seen one so big. I knew it wouldn't hurt me at all but it was huge and he was staring me down as I swam past. After that I saw a bunch of weird trash in the water so I decided to get out. Was a good exercise and refreshing!

Today I planned to go hiking on St. John by myself. There is a nice hiking trail right off the ferry that I did with my parents that I wanted to do. I have been needing some good cardio. It took me a little while to get moving in the morning but I made it over by 11 and the hike was perfect. Up at the top, I was sitting on the view-tower and an older couple joined me. I started conversation with them, turns out they were from Chicago. We talked about environmental education and how the islands are different from the states. Its rare that I have a good conversation with a stranger!
After my chat, I continued my hike down to the beaches, put up my hammock at Soloman beach, napped and while reading my book, I watched Ty hike in a group from the Ritz on a boat trip. I smiled and waved at him but didn't want to disturb him at work. It was pretty funny to see him at work and me be completely relaxed in my hammock! After more reading, a quick snorkel and some more sun, I hiked back to Cruz bay to grab some frozen yogurt and catch the ferry back to St. Thomas. Im exhausted and really really dont want to go to work tomorrow.

So, I have decided that Im going to spend the last two weeks here traveling. I would love to see some other islands and other adventures while Im here. I dont want to miss out! So if there is anyone who would like to join me for anything, please do so! Its more fun traveling with someone then alone. The last week in May I will be in Puerto Rico for sure!!

The Cake Fairy

Today was a pretty standard weekend here in PA. I dont do much but hope that its nice out so I can go for a walk and explore on my own, but the sun didnt come shining through my window this morning to wake me up. I slept in. After a few hours of lounging around watching youtube videos about history, I asked Cassie if she wanted to explore the town. We decided to take a visit to a local winery/brewery, Stone & Key Cellars, to do some tastings. They had quite the spread of things to taste and we were overwhelmed! Fruit wines and your typical whites and reds, cider and mede! I started out with some of the red fruit wines and Cassie with the white fruits. They were all a bit sweet for me so I moved right into the bold reds. We got four tastings each and shared our tastes but also, the bartender was super cool and gave us more tastings of whatever he wanted! He was talking to us about the local area and what breweries to check out next in our exploration of Pennsylvania. Going to ...

Bio Bay, PR positives

The coolest part of our trip to Puerto Rico was definitely the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques [side note, bioluminescence is a big word, mostly it just means stuff that lights up but scientifically it means 'bio'-life, 'lumin'-light, 'escence'-to put forth. So, life that puts forth light!] It was an experience that I cannot easily put into words. The night started out a bit strange. We got picked up at our hostel at 9pm, along with 5 other girls, by a thirty-something, long-haired gentleman. He walked us about a block to the van that would transport us to the bio-bay. The van was, well, to put it nicely, a fixer-upper. It had bench seats which were collapsing, the roof fabric was falling down, it puttered around and squeaked during turns. Ty and I joked that we were paying 40 bucks to get murdered in this van especially when we turned down a dirt, side street that was full of pot holes. We slowly lumbered along this road for a few minutes until we made it to our ...

Eating Like Crap is Crap

Im trying really hard not to spend money on food as there is so much food here at camp. Its not horrible food but its definitely not the best. So, with me trying not to spend money on food, I haven't been eating the greatest. I don't know if its because of other reasons, but Ive been feeling like shit lately and Im attributing it to lack of nutrients. I dont know how people eat crap all the time and survive. It must be a skill. I was eating alright about two weeks ago but this last week it hasn't been very pretty. Ive been a scavenger and theres been a lot of bread and fake meat and here is how I feel: Im tired ALL the time. No matter how many naps I take or hours I sleep a night, Im always exhausted by mid-day and just want to lay around, sleep and do nothing. Ive also been starting to get weak headaches throughout the day. Or having sore muscles from doing minimal exercise. That also makes me just want to do nothing. My stomach is also crazy. It hurts if I eat som...
