Earplugs and Waves

So, after a day of nothing yesterday, I was ready for bed again. Except I had to sleep on the boat, round two. It was/is still super windy, so the waves are crazy. I decided that earplugs would be beneficial to dull the sounds of the waves and the boat. It worked a bit. I only woke up like three times instead of the 18 times I woke up on the night before! Much more restful. Earplugs are awesome.

I still however feel like Im on a boat. Im sitting at a bar in town getting the inter webs and Im softly rocking back and forth on my chair. Is this whole island floating?! haha

This morning Amber and I did yoga on a dock near the water. It was wonderful.

In other good news, I have a lead on an Apartment near town! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Tomorrow I start my job. Im nervous! Its been over a year that Ive started a new job so Im a little rusty at starting fresh! haha. So much to learn about everything down here. Completely different then my Milwaukee life :) Miss you MKE!!

Also, Im wearing a tank and capris. Be jealous.

Yesterday, I had a shit-eating grin as I was winding through local streets, pedaling and feeling the warm breeze in my hair. I recently, in the last month, moved to the DC area and have been struggling to fit in and find my place. This month, Ty and I got our own room in a place that we share with a few others that are our roommates in our new town. But there are still so many things that are missing in my life. Guatemala: Day One Adventure

The following is a conglomeration of journal writings that I made about my travel day to San Marcos, Guatemala and some additions to make it all run together smoothly: 11/5/15 6:60am Chicago I JUST made my first flight. It helped that the dude behind me in the security line was on my flight. We chatted a bit about travel and it eased my mind a little. I get so stressed out when Im not early... I had to take the earliest bus from Milwaukee at 4:30 am. I slept three hours. 10:55am ATL I think I smell... I didn't do that deodorant thing this morning. Whatever. I had less than an hour layover and had to run through the huge ATL airport to get to my gate. I got there with a bit of time though which is nice. Im between two not so fun humans. One is a very large man who thinks he can have half of my seat (though at least he seems nice) and an older woman who I don't think speaks good spanish or engligh. Bio Bay, PR positives

The coolest part of our trip to Puerto Rico was definitely the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques [side note, bioluminescence is a big word, mostly it just means stuff that lights up but scientifically it means 'bio'-life, 'lumin'-light, 'escence'-to put forth. So, life that puts forth light!] It was an experience that I cannot easily put into words. The night started out a bit strange. We got picked up at our hostel at 9pm, along with 5 other girls, by a thirty-something, long-haired gentleman. He walked us about a block to the van that would transport us to the bio-bay. The van was, well, to put it nicely, a fixer-upper. It had bench seats which were collapsing, the roof fabric was falling down, it puttered around and squeaked during turns. Ty and I joked that we were paying 40 bucks to get murdered in this van especially when we turned down a dirt, side street that was full of pot holes.
