Guatemala: Rush to Leave

7:09 am
Its been a habit of waking up early. A lot of the people here are up already too. I like how I feel when I go to bed early and wake up early. I feel like I have so much more time to get things done or to just relax in the morning and not feel like Ive wasted so much time. Its hard to keep up this schedule in the States though because I need to use the evening hours to get stuff done and thats the lifestyle there.

The sun is out today and I dont see any clouds, how exciting! But, its our last few hours here so we can't enjoy it fully...

Im excited to get home, traveling can get exhausting but I also dont want to leave Guatemala. Its so beautiful here, everyone is so friendly and I love exploring new places.

I forgot to talk about the heat lightning! Last night we had some which created a cool atmosphere as we walked around the city at night. There was a lot of it at the Yoga Forest too. Especially the last night that one of the girls from our retreat taught yoga. It was dark, there was tons of lightning, some rumbling thunder and also some bats flying around in the open space! It was pretty magical and she does these awesome adjustments too. I just want her to do yoga with me all the time!

Man, I slept SO good last night because of the big hike and fun human interaction yesterday and am feeling so good today. I dont want to leave this place.

1:41pm Aeropuerto
We had to run around the city this morning to find an ATM and a shuttle service because our hostel wasn't running them when we needed one. When we got to the shuttle ($10 for an hour ride to the airport) we were able to take our time. I wanted more chocolate from the Coco Museo but it was closed. But we just walked around the Parque Central and the arch before we went to the market. Then it was time to pack up and say goodbye to El Hostel.

We sat in Parque Central and I watched this bird try and eat a peanut until a big fat pigeon came and scared it away. We were able to stop at the Coco Museo on the way to the shuttle where I bought SO much chocolate! Its too good...

We also almost missed our shuttle because the pickup spot was different! The man who reserved our spot spoke only Spanish and wasn't very slow with it so it was very hard to understand. But he was able to figure it out for us and we made it!

Now Im at the airport and our plane is delayed a bit but we should make our connection, hopefully...
Ill be back in the states soon!

The Cake Fairy

Today was a pretty standard weekend here in PA. I dont do much but hope that its nice out so I can go for a walk and explore on my own, but the sun didnt come shining through my window this morning to wake me up. I slept in. After a few hours of lounging around watching youtube videos about history, I asked Cassie if she wanted to explore the town. We decided to take a visit to a local winery/brewery, Stone & Key Cellars, to do some tastings. They had quite the spread of things to taste and we were overwhelmed! Fruit wines and your typical whites and reds, cider and mede! I started out with some of the red fruit wines and Cassie with the white fruits. They were all a bit sweet for me so I moved right into the bold reds. We got four tastings each and shared our tastes but also, the bartender was super cool and gave us more tastings of whatever he wanted! He was talking to us about the local area and what breweries to check out next in our exploration of Pennsylvania. Going to ...

Bio Bay, PR positives

The coolest part of our trip to Puerto Rico was definitely the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques [side note, bioluminescence is a big word, mostly it just means stuff that lights up but scientifically it means 'bio'-life, 'lumin'-light, 'escence'-to put forth. So, life that puts forth light!] It was an experience that I cannot easily put into words. The night started out a bit strange. We got picked up at our hostel at 9pm, along with 5 other girls, by a thirty-something, long-haired gentleman. He walked us about a block to the van that would transport us to the bio-bay. The van was, well, to put it nicely, a fixer-upper. It had bench seats which were collapsing, the roof fabric was falling down, it puttered around and squeaked during turns. Ty and I joked that we were paying 40 bucks to get murdered in this van especially when we turned down a dirt, side street that was full of pot holes. We slowly lumbered along this road for a few minutes until we made it to our ...

Eating Like Crap is Crap

Im trying really hard not to spend money on food as there is so much food here at camp. Its not horrible food but its definitely not the best. So, with me trying not to spend money on food, I haven't been eating the greatest. I don't know if its because of other reasons, but Ive been feeling like shit lately and Im attributing it to lack of nutrients. I dont know how people eat crap all the time and survive. It must be a skill. I was eating alright about two weeks ago but this last week it hasn't been very pretty. Ive been a scavenger and theres been a lot of bread and fake meat and here is how I feel: Im tired ALL the time. No matter how many naps I take or hours I sleep a night, Im always exhausted by mid-day and just want to lay around, sleep and do nothing. Ive also been starting to get weak headaches throughout the day. Or having sore muscles from doing minimal exercise. That also makes me just want to do nothing. My stomach is also crazy. It hurts if I eat som...
