Abs in Gate C2

Having a long travel day can be a little relaxing. Forcing one to not really do anything but sit.

I started my day in Horsham, PA at 12:54 and boarded a train to Philadelphia. I was able to get a little snooze in before I had to change trains in center city to PHL. Once there I got off at the wrong stop so i had a little longer of a walk which is no problem for me considering I need the exercise, especially if Ill be sitting for most of the afternoon!

I got on my first flight to ATL where I sit now. I was hoping to see some friends but some are busy, others are not around but thats ok, I was able to do some more walking in this gigantic airport and grab a delicious falafel wrap and smoothie for dinner. I also decided I need to do some more moving and have been neglecting my abs workout. So, I found a somewhat secluded spot in my gate and called up my workout buddy. We did some pushups and planks which got my heart pumping and felt great. It wasn't awkward until some woman sat right next to where I was exercising even though there was a ton of open space. I felt like she was just using me as entertainment while she ate her dinner.

I love having time to just sit and use the time for myself. I feel more productive online and while in the air, I'm forced to listen to music, read a book or take a much needed nap.

Im also using this time to study up on Thailand! Ty and I are headed there after the holiday and I couldn't be more excited for the sun/warmpth! Especially after hearing its 19 degrees in northern WI... I can speak for both Ty and I when I say, we HATE being cold :(

Excited to see as many family and friends as I can over the long weekend in WI!

Red = Passion

Yesterday, I had a shit-eating grin as I was winding through local streets, pedaling and feeling the warm breeze in my hair. I recently, in the last month, moved to the DC area and have been struggling to fit in and find my place. This month, Ty and I got our own room in a place that we share with a few others that are our roommates in our new town. But there are still so many things that are missing in my life. I need yoga, rock climbing and freedom to get around on my own. On Tuesday afternoon, I took that first step at transportation freedom in the form of a two wheeled vehicle. I took the metro to Virginia which is a bit of a ride from my new home on the Maryland side. I stopped at one of the last metro stops and walked out into the sunny, nice weather. I was meeting someone from craigslist who was selling a little, red Schwinn bike. I exited the station and immediately saw the little red bike being held up by a sweet looking, older man. I introduced myself, took the bike for a...

Guatemala: Day One Adventure

The following is a conglomeration of journal writings that I made about my travel day to San Marcos, Guatemala and some additions to make it all run together smoothly: 11/5/15 6:60am Chicago I JUST made my first flight. It helped that the dude behind me in the security line was on my flight. We chatted a bit about travel and it eased my mind a little. I get so stressed out when Im not early... I had to take the earliest bus from Milwaukee at 4:30 am. I slept three hours. 10:55am ATL I think I smell... I didn't do that deodorant thing this morning. Whatever. I had less than an hour layover and had to run through the huge ATL airport to get to my gate. I got there with a bit of time though which is nice. Im between two not so fun humans. One is a very large man who thinks he can have half of my seat (though at least he seems nice) and an older woman who I don't think speaks good spanish or engligh. Also, when she's passed out its fine but as soon as she wakes up, the ...

Welcome to Kentucky

So Tyler and I have been driving for two days to get me to Kentucky tonight for my internship at the Reptile Zoo! (Which Im pretty excited for by the way) Its dark out and we are excited to almost be in Kentucky after passing through so many other states the whole day. We drive over this hill and this is what we see: The sky is all lit up orange and its kind of flickering and both Ty and I go “oh F***” Something is on fire and we think theres a horrible exploding accident on the highway. As we come down this hill, we notice that there is no horrible accident but theres fire from a factory. The orange lights are lighting up the foggy night sky and its glaring. Orange lights, smoke stacks and fires from the factory are all over and we are disgusted. It is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. There is a billboard with an american flag (‘MERICA!) and we find out its an oil factory. On the other part of the highway is a sign as we come over the bridge: Welcome to Kentucky.  Not...
